Adaptive Technologies Available for Patron Use

I. Computer:

  • Gateway Pentium III, 650 Mhz  256 Mb
  • Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation Pentium PC with BIGPRINT software including MS Office Suite, MS Encarta Encyclopedia,  Atlas, etc.
II. Software:
  • ZoomText for Windows
  • Dragon Dictate and Dragon Naturally Speaking
  • IBM Home Page Reader for Internet Access
III. Devices:
  • Xerox Reading Edge reading machine
  • CCTVs, color and black & white
  • Adjustable computer workstations, selection of ergonomic keyboards
The Gates Foundation 'BIGPRINT' computer and electronically adjustable workstation were donated by the Lions Club of Marquette.  The Gateway computer and peripherals were purchased for demonstration training at area agencies with a grant from the United Way of Marquette County.  Some software was purchased with a Library Services & Technology Act federal grant from the Institute for Museum and Library Services administered by the Library of Michigan and awarded to the Upper Peninsula Region of Library Cooperation.
