The following adaptive technology is available for
use by people with disabilities. Demonstration and training can be

Gateway 800 Mhrz with 19" color monitor
This computer and adjustable table were donated for use by adults
with vision impairments by the Marquette Lions Club.

| The Xerox Reading Edge is a scanner with a built-in voice synthesizer.
The reading machine can scan print documents, convert to text, and read
the text aloud. A tape player is provided so that people can scan
recipes, knitting patterns, bills, etc. and playback the recorded voice
output at home.

The Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) enlarges printed material in color.
A document is placed on the sliding tray underneath a camera. The
enlarged picture is read from the monitor. Type size can be adjusted.

| A variety of ergonomic keyboards, wrist rests, foot rest, and copy
holders are available for use with either computer. Thanks to Michigan
Department of Career Development, a division of Michigan Rehabilitation
Services, for their advice on these peripherals.
This keyboard is the Kenesis design with a split key well. It accommodates any size lengths. The Alimed web site is a good place to browse for adaptive technology because they provide pictures of most of the products they resell. Their URL is www.alimed.com. |
