Escanaba Public Library

a Michigan library accessible to people with disabilities

The Ambassador reading machine  is a scanner with a built-in voice synthesizer.  The reading machine can scan print  documents, convert to text, and read the text aloud.  A  tape player is provided so that people can scan recipes,  knitting patterns, bills, etc. and playback the recorded  voice output at home.

Purchased for the Library with a Library Services &
 Construction Act federal grant.

The Closed Circuit TV (CCTV) enlarges printed material in color.  A document is placed on the sliding underneath a camera.  The enlarged picture is read from the monitor. Type size can be adjusted.
