On August 8, 2017 City of Marquette voters had the opportunity to support the Library Improvement Plan for the Peter White Public Library. This plan will renovate, reorganize, and update the library building while also allowing us to provide additional spaces for our most popular services.
The library capital improvement bond that partially funded the 2000 addition and renovation project was paid off in July 2017 and had a rate of 0.550 mill.
The bond millage rate for the new bond is estimated at a rate of 0.4796 mill ($0.4796 per $1,000 taxable value). This 15-year bond will begin in 2018. Total bond proposal $4,205,000.
While not a renewal, the new bond begins immediately after the old bond pays off; they do not overlap.
