Mango is an online language learning system teaching practical conversation skills for real communication. Each lesson combines real life situations and audio from native speakers with simple, clear instructions. The courses are presented with an appreciation for cultural nuance and real-world application that integrates components of vocabulary, pronunciation, grammar and culture.

 

Mango is free of charge to all PLDL patrons.

Getting Started with Mango

Create A Login and Password

On the login screen, you have the option to create a login and password, which will allow Mango to remember where you left off the next time you login. If you want to skip this just click “guest access”.

Select A Course

Choose your language and browse the listed courses. Start at the beginning of a unit or jump ahead if you’re looking for more in-depth training. You can also take a placement test if you’re unsure where to start.

Access Mango Premiere

Browse full-length films in “Mango premiere”. Choose your subtitles and level of engagement. These options allow you to either sit-back and enjoy the film, or pause intermittently for lingual and cultural facts and practice.

 

Mango Labs

Select Mango Labs from the menu along the left side of the page to vote on what languages and features Mango should add next!

Click the Fluency Button to hear the word pronounced at normal speaking speed.

 

After the narrator reads a slide, the Voice Comparison Button will appear.  Click it to compare your pronunciation to that of the narrator.
