Make Your Own Composting Bin

The Portage Lake District Library will host Michigan Technological University students from the Green Campus Enterprise for a compost bin making workshop on Tuesday, April 24, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
Participants will learn how to make and maintain their own small scale, year-round, indoor composting bin that will fit under a kitchen sink. All supplies needed for this project will be provided along with composting tips and tricks.
Green Campus Enterprise is a student organization that works on projects such as solar thermal, wind energy, and building efficiency for Michigan Technological University. They are also active in the community by supporting and donating time for environmentally focused events and projects. Some of the community work they have done includes helping the Keweenaw Climate Community with events, attending Citizen’s Climate Lobby meetings, and working with the Houghton Energy Efficiency Team (HEET).
