National Novel Writing Month Prep Sessions
Posted on October 9, 2017 – 2:13 pm
The Portage Lake District Library invites everyone who loves to write to explore their creative talents at a series of writing “prep sessions” designed for those who accept the challenge of National Novel Writing Month.
Known as the largest writing event in the world, the National Novel Writing Month (NaNoWriMo) “Come Write In” program encourages participants to write a 50,000 word novel during November.
To help writers prepare for this feat, NaNoWriMo Municipal Liaisons for the U.P., Rebecca Frost and Colleen Hix, will hold two novel writing prep sessions at the library on October 14 and 21 from 1:00 – 3:00 p.m.
The first session will focus on plots and story arcs, and the second session will show how to create believable characters and worlds. Participants will also learn tips on how meet daily word goals and how to navigate this mad-dash competition with themselves.
Participants are asked to bring a notebook or paper and a pen.
National Novel Writing Month is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit that believes all stories matter. Through their programs including the Young Writers Program, the Come Write In program and Camp NaNoWriMo, they hope to empower and encourage vibrant creativity around the world.
