Keweenaw Reads Community Book Discussion
Posted on August 9, 2017 – 4:27 pm
The Portage Lake District Library and the Copper Country Reading Council with support from the Michigan Reading Association invites everyone to join a Keweenaw Reads Community book discussion at the library on Thursday, August 17, from 6:30 – 7:30 p.m.
The book chosen for this year’s discussion is Born on a Blue Day: Inside the Extraordinary Mind of an Autistic Savant by Daniel Tammet.
Tammet is one of only fifty high-functioning Autistic Savants in the world. His book visits the world from his point of view and sheds light on his unique relationships and incredible skills, including his one-of-a-kind understanding of numbers.
Born on a Blue Day was chosen for the 2017 Summer Reading As Inquiry Initiative for incoming students at Michigan Technological University to read and discuss during orientation week in August. The public is invited to a presentation by the author on August 29 from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. and 1:00 – 2:30 p.m. at the MTU Rozsa Center.
Library programs are free and everyone is welcome. For more information, please call the library at 482-4570 or visit www.pldl.org.
