Antique Appraisal Event June 13 - Back by Popular Demand

Sign up has now begun for the Antique Appraisal event at the Public Library on June 13. Digital Alger County Newspapers and Yearbooks Now at Library

After a multi-year project, the Munising School Public Library is very pleased to announce the launch of an historic digital archive at the library. This archive contains the digital images of all of the library's holdings of historic newspapers and yearbooks and is fully indexed and searchable using state of the art Optical Character Recognition (OCR). This means that patrons can come into the library and within minutes find articles in the historical newspapers and yearbooks in PDF format by searching with a keyword or two. All library computers have the archive available so there is no more waiting for the microfilm reader. Stop in today for a demonstration!

"Libby", App for Smart Devices to download Audiobooks and eBooks

Citing enhanced features and increased ease of use, OverDrive has launched a new app for smart devices called Libby for the downloading of ebooks and audiobooks from the OverDrive library. Libby is a free app available from the App Store and Google Play. Click on Overdrive/Libby Button above. The Overdrive App is still available and is the only app that you can use with Kindle Fire. Searching for Ancestors? Alger Roots meets Last Wednesdays of Month at 10:30a.m.

Ancestry.com is free for you to use in the Library. Using Family Search to search for Ancestors usually gets results as well. There are many sites that have records, but Family Search is always free. Also check out our other links to genealogical research pages on the Internet by visiting the Geneological links Page which is updated on a regular basis.
