A bucket list for a dog? Of course! Why not? The cover of this book grabbed my attention first. The contentment on the face of sweet Gizelle hanging her big mastiff head out the window of a car just made me smile. Then I read the description and knew I had to read it. The author, Lauren moves to Times Square after graduating college with her 160-pound English mastiff. How in the world do you find an apartment large enough to fit two humans let alone a giant dog comfortably in New York City?
Gizelle’s Bucket List is Watt’s coming of age memoir as she navigates post-college life with her canine best friend beside her. This book is beautifully written. It will make you both laugh and cry. You can’t help but cheer for Lauren as she deals with the continual fall out of her mother’s addiction, romance and her first “real” job all with faithful Gizelle by her side. You will fall in love with this silly pup, and your heart will break when Lauren realizes that Gizelle will not be with her forever. Join them as they set out on many “doggy” bucket list adventures- Lauren’s way of making sure that her best friend enjoys every moment while she still can. Her dedication and love for Gizelle will resonate with every person who has ever loved and lost their own dog.
